Dignitary Fellows

The Dignitary Fellowship of the Society for Innovation in Health and Scientific Development (FMSIHSD) represents one of the most esteemed recognitions conferred by the Society. As the second highest title of distinction, it is awarded to accomplished individuals who have demonstrated remarkable commitment and achievement in the areas of academic scholarship, scientific research, technological advancement, or social development.

The FMSIHSD designation serves as a symbol of credibility, honor, and leadership within the academic and professional community. It affirms that the recipient has significantly contributed to the progress of knowledge, innovation, or societal welfare through years of dedicated service, original work, or impactful initiatives.

This recognition not only enhances the Fellow’s personal and professional standing, but also creates pathways for collaboration, funding opportunities, and increased influence in regional and international scientific circles. Fellows are often seen as mentors, thought leaders, and institutional ambassadors in their fields.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking to be considered for the Dignitary Fellowship must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Hold a senior professional standing within their field, demonstrated through at least five (5) years of active contribution to science, health, education, or a related discipline.
  • Be nominated by a current SIHSD Fellow or by a recognised institution aligned with the Society’s mission. Direct applications without nomination are not accepted.
  • Identify and articulate two (2) significant contributions to their field — whether through research, innovation, practice, or leadership — and demonstrate the lasting impact of those contributions on the field or on society.
  • Have their nomination supported by at least three (3) reference letters from recognised experts in the field, of whom the majority should be independent of the candidate’s institution, attesting specifically to the significance of the nominated contributions.

The selection process is managed by the SIHSD Fellowship Evaluation Committee, comprising senior fellows and independent subject-matter experts. The Committee evaluates each nomination on the substance and impact of the candidate’s contributions, not on the length of their career or breadth of their publication list. Elevation to the Dignitary Fellowship is selective — it recognises individuals who have made a meaningful and lasting difference in their field, and the standard reflects that only a distinguished minority of qualified professionals will meet it.

Awardees of the FMSIHSD Fellowship receive an array of exclusive benefits designed to support their professional growth and increase their visibility across the scientific and academic ecosystem:
